COMPUTATIONAL COUTURE¶
PROJECT OF THE WEEK¶
TEST 1¶
FilaFlex on elastic corsetry fabric.
The result is very good, although the fixation of the filaflex with a brim could be improved.
TEST 2¶
PLA on elastic corsetry fabric.
The result is very bad. The PLA doesn't stick to the fabric although we made two passes of brim. Non-flexible material with elastic fabric is not a good idea, even less if the printed forms are long and do not give mobility to the fabric.
TEST 3¶
FilaFlex on jersey knit.
In this case, we reduced the design to expedite printing and made some cuts with a Boolean operation to give more flexibility. The support is very good. The fabric has a texture with a very small hair, peach texture, which makes it much easier to hold. We did just one brim pass and that was enough. The work but it is not very clean and there are many hairs and lumps.
You can do your test or just print my design downloading the file
And also you can find it on OS-Circularfashion
STEP BY STEP¶
To create the design, I followed this tutorial, modifying the measures to adapt it to the use I was going to give it.
To make the impression you must follow the following steps:
- Unlock the printer bed and place the cloth with metal tweezers. The fabric has to be well secured. I didn't want to stretch it a lot so as not to generate much retraction when I pulled it out. Finding the right point where the nozzle is not going to move it and the retraction will be the same took me a while.
- Open the file the design that we have saved in STL in the Cura
- Fill in the parameters. Printer we will use Material Print specificities (brim, diameter walls, final passes ...)
- Wait a loooot and remove the and remove the fabric from the 3D printer
To print on the fabric with the 3D printer, - Prepare the machine. On the menu, * prepare / disable steppers (mobility to bed to put the fabric * Put the fabric on the bed, hold it with stationery clips by pulling it lightly so that the nozzle does not move it when circulating to print. * Auto home on the menu and pre hit
After that, go to the computer. Open your file with the cura and follow the steps detailed on the videos to adjust the parameters.

Test 1¶
Test 2¶
Test 3¶
The parameters used are the same as in test 1 but with one pass brim.
