WORK DONE¶
SMOKE
- Build a frame to paint silk
- Extract soot by burning a plate with a candle
- Cut the skeletons in plastic
- Make the pigment with the soot, you can see the process on my documentation
- Place the silk on the canvas and paint following the skeletons pattern. For the final ones, I have to mordentate before and steam after be painted the silk.
- Trim the silk and stick on the skeletons
- I burn the leftovers of silk it was difficult to cut
Conclusions - Use a thinner plastic sheet - make the thickness of the skeleton thinner - Do not make complex shapes to be able to trim the silk easily - The best glue is Adhesif Temporaire for embroidery - Paste one side and then the opposite, so you can stretch the silk well - Revise the corners with glue applied wit a brush
3D PEN
Conclusions
- Do practices to have a cleaner stroke
- Try to iron the reverse of the silk after applying the material with the 3D pen
- Try to apply the material with the 3D pen by placing the fabric on a slightly hot plate or surface and see if it sticks more to the fabric
- Try sanding the applied PLA to see if it loses shine
- Search for other materials with less brightness, try ABS and FilaFlex
FELTING 3D PRINTED SHAPES
- Design a pattern on Rhino
- Print it
- Felt
Conclusion
- Check the width well to take it to a minimum
- Felt both layers a little before putting the print in the middle
