3. Circular fashion¶
This week I worked on making an open circular garment, I reproduced three patterns with almost no waste that I will upload in open circular fashion platform
Research¶
I followed the tutorial and class notes to figure out how to make cuts on any pattern. here I describe how I reproduced the models. I choose to do cuma by takehiroandro and two islamic/arabic pattern models are inspired from zellij used mainly in architecure here is applied on fabric.
prototyping with paper and scissors¶
modules creation¶
all modules are 5 or 4 cm each, to create the rectangular ones, I offset the shape to create one line perpenducular to the corner this is one cut, I rotate from center no of corners, to make copies with the no of vertices in my pattern. to make two line cuts from this line I extend it and trim in the middle. no of single and double cut lines is half no of vertices. this can be applied to any polygon or rectangular pattern to make a garment for circular pattern I create tabs and cuts to fit in it no of tabs is equal to the no of line cuts I arrange in an array in order to do design with no waste I added cuts lines and tabs for interior pattern, then I explode and seldup to find and delete double lines (double cuts). for laser cutter I separate internal and outer cuts in different layers, I use group and ungroup when needed
