11. Implications and applications¶
This week I worked on my final project idea and concept. as we go through different themes in textile fabricademy program I decided to make a system of making traditional Mororccan carpets that include collecting natural materials and ressourcing materials, spinning process, weaving with electrical loom logic for weaving techniques, and recycling
Research¶
the research in materials, wool as natural materials, bio yarn, spining machine process, loom design, weaving techniques, recycling (DIY textile recycling machine, biorecycling)

story telling¶
-
in my city natal women make traditional carpets that takes long time to be made and cost very high its difficult to them to compete with all imported carpets that are made with wool and machines. the goal is to create a system of moroccan carpet that include electrical loom, spinning machine, bioyarn library, recycling textile. The project will make possible the capabilities of digital textile machines and process at the hand of community. I believe that digitizing the whole process will address high cost and long time work hours, the use of natural bio materials and recycling techniques for circular production and dynamic design will make it more personalized, modern and competitive
-
the concept includes the process of manufacturing carpet, from collecting/making library of biomaterials, natural dye, spinning, loom and pattern design, weaving, to recycling biorecycling
main phases are
-hacking spinning machine and process
-bioyarn library to explore
-electrical loom with motors+logic to move motors and weaving presentation with tool head and interface to load design, pick color, weave technique to lanch the pattern making job
-then research in bio yarn and wool recycling
-
as a value proposition openness, ressourcing materials, personilazation, circular economy, local production
-
people are local community crafters, and individual crafters. Stakeholders are Women initiatives and local production initiatives and programs, city hall, organizations, textile labs, fablabs
5.to be able to achive this goal within the timing slot of fabricademy I will refer to some weekely projects design pattern from computational couture week mechanical loom and spinning machine from machine week bioyarn bio material coloring biochrom then continue with automation interface and research in recycling as further developpement
- conclusion
to conclude this product will be an issue of continuous research in materials recycling processes and digitaization, delivred in incremental versions destined to community and individuals to revolutionalize and conserve the cultural heritage the goal also to make it competitive in time and cost hope this will help crafters to work with machines/processes that increase their production with durable products that has social economical and environmental impact.
