01. State of the art, project management and documentation

This week we got introduced to gitlab and the documentation process, At first it was difficult to understand certain terms because I don't have any background in coding or website building but somehow managed. I used to work with fabric scraps, for upcycling projects and started working with pure merino wool as it is biodegadeable, used natural dyes and felting process to create textures hence creating a sustainable collection. This was when I got interested in sustainable fashion and wanted to learn about new fabrication techniques, that is when I came across fabricademy on a social media platform and after coming here I realised this was the perfect place to be!

Git-Hub Documentation

The first week was about documentation of all the work we do at fabricademy, to keep a record and build more on what we have learnt during the weeks. So for documentating our work on our websited, we were taught how to operate Git-hub. Following the class recordings, Github documentation tutorial and previous years student's documentation.

I didn't do a lot of changes as I wanted to keep it minimal, just changed the colour of the website by changing the colour to black in mkdocs.yml, we can explore more colours, fonts, themes from materials for Mkdocs

We can make basic changes by using following codes -

# Puts the text as a Title.
## Puts the text as a subtitle.
##### Puts the text as a sub-sub-sub-subtitle.

*text* Puts text in italic.
**text** Puts text in bold.
***text*** Puts text in bold and italic.

![ImageName](ImagePath) Adds an image.
[text](link) Adds an hyperlink to the text.

Gitlab understands html, so it is easy to follow some tutorials and make the website more peronalised.

Softwares used

Procreate - This software allows me to create intricate patterns and artsy moodboards, as it works with ipad, it acts like a canvas for me to create patterns.

Canva - This online website offers a number of templates to work with, I usually use this platform to create presentations, gifs and resumes.

Giphy - To create Gifs for my website.

Image converters - This website offers to convert images from any format (.Heic, .jpg, .png) to any other format.

Image compressor - Tinypng allows us to compress images to lighter size to be able to upload on gitlab.

Photoshop - for image editing and resizing.

Research

My work is compilation of the visuals and textures around me, Inpspired by nature, mostly marine life. My usual work flow is being in the space>capturing the visuals that attracts me (usually the surface detailing/textures)>Extracting patterns>creating patterns (for surface designing and pattern making both).

Here is a short clip of extracting first draft of patterns out of visuals.

For my final project I would like to continue my existing knowledge and skills combined with the new technologies that I will learn here at fabricademy, to explore more ways of designing and fabrication. As I am a fashion designer my obvious goal would be to make a conscious capsule fashion line.
