"SAVOIR-FAIRE"

1. Trimming tests The trimming part was necessary to understand how to cut the the small pieces of leather (Angle of 30 degrees)for getting the right pieces in term of thickness & length. It is a really traditionnal and technical gesture.

MOLDING

1. Molding tests Put piece of leather in a solution of 80°C water with a spoon of sodium bicarbonate.

BUILD UP VACCUM BOX

For the modeling part of the project, I wanted to build up a 90x90cm DIY vaccum box in order to mold several pieces at the same time. On top of the vaccum box, I made a latex layer in order to have better result with the modeling pieces.

MATERIAL NEEDED

• Wood square x2, 90mmm
• Cleat 360cm
• Assembly braket x4
• Wood screw a box of 50 pieces

TOOLS

• Miter saw
• Screwdriver

• Compression molding
• Vacuum forming

LATEX FOIL 1 bottle of 1L offer to make 1 squaremeter of latex foil.

Making process:

1. Draw a 1 squaremeter on a plastic layer
2. 1st layer appplicated with a roller brush
3. Wait 20 min
4. 2nd layer
5. Make a layer every 20 minutes. = Put every layer slowly & gently + Once verticaly & once horizontaly

2. Verify dimensions of the plate 23X23cm
3. Import file
4. Modele arrangement (fix de 3D design at the corner)
5. Milling setting: select adaptive
6. Final depth=> maximum height for the toolhead: 20mm
7. Apply to selected: OPERATION ORDER
