9. Textile Scaffold¶
For this week many options of projects were posisble. As I work already with mycelium and already experimented with molding it in different ways, I decidet to work with something new. The 2 things that got me more curious in this week's lectures were the leather molding and the cristalization processes.
Processes - leather molding¶
For the leather molding, I used an object I already had at home. I wanted to test the ability of the leather to get the textures and patterns printed, so I choose a golf ball and tried to print in the leather all the round cavities of it.
buying leather leftovers from a leather shop
soaking the leather in hot water and baking soda
vacuumform made with acrilyc and laser cut. You use it together with a vacuum cleaner
at the end, the molded ball turned into a seed bag
I couldn't to the: from Cad to CAM process. One reason was because it was very hard to find a Milling machine that I could use. The other one was because it's super hard to find a program that works in mac. If you know some, let me know.I found one from Siemens, NX CAM. The tutorial I tried to follow was this one.
I used rhino to draw the shape for the milling.
