01 Expanded Lines
Concept¶
Using the combination of parametric design and additive manufacturing technology with textiles, I intend to create high-fashion and ready-to-wear lines that create the illusion of beauty through the aesthetics of underwater organisms based on the study of artistic human Anatomy.
Inspiration¶
The book Art forms in nature by Ernst Haeckel inspired me greatly. Everything from the intricate artwork to the multiple colors and organic shapes tells me there is a lot more to learn about the things hidden from sight. Haeckel discovered thousands of unique underwater organisms, but I chose a few that I thought were extremely beautiful and whose aesthetics were relevant to how colours and movements are probably seen in the real world, etc.
Art Forms In Nature by Ernst Haeckel¶
Ernst Haeckel was a German zoologist, naturalist, eugenicist, philosopher, physician, professor, marine biologist and artist. He discovered, described and named thousands of new species.
The published artwork of Haeckel includes over 100 detailed, multi-colour illustrations of animals and sea creatures, collected in his Kunstformen der Natur ("Art Forms of Nature"), a book which would go on to influence the Art Nouveau artistic movement.
Ernst Haeckel's Art forms in nature, detailed artworks have inspired me to create my Body Art collection. In fact, I only researched a few of his artworks as there is so much to learn about underwater organisms.
