Research on The Jordanian Embroidery

I was trying to find anything about the Jordanian heritage in fashion and wearables but it was very difficult to find because of the lack of resources and studies so I decided to start a research on the Jordanian wearables and embroidery patterns and how it changes from one area to another

Embroidery in Jordan-Study

I went to the museum of popular traditions in Jordan and here is some pictures of what women used to wear in Jordan in different areas

I found a very interesting weaving machines they were put in a room called the weaving room it contains different types of loom: - The vertical loom: it is specially used for making carpets and mattress, the threads were inserted after being washed and dyed. this type of looms were found in Al-Husun, Al-Salt and Madaba.

  • The horizontal loom: it is specially used for weaving the tents, it was popular around the Jordan river area and Palestine

Fire Test

This test makes you able to distinguish between the natural fabrics and the synthetic ones by lighting them on fire and observe how they act
