RESEARCH FOR ALREADY EXISTING PROJECTS

I have made a small inventory of existing online tutorials that exists in the field of textile workshops for kids and youngsters

1.Digital workshops Greenfabric

Greenfabric

In the beginning of 2023 I followed at Fablab Greenfabric 10 different workshops on Textile and digital fabrication. My children assisted me at a few of them and I was surprised that many techniques where not too difficult for them and that they really enjoyed making creations with those newly learned techniques.

Those workshops were for me the starting point to deepdive into the world of textile and technology and to explore the possiblities for children.

2.SheMakes

shemakes

The learning modules of Shemakes are a great ressource of opensource workshops that already exists for different target groups in the field of textile. Especially the one for kids and teenagers, the curiosity path, interests me.

3. STORE

store

STORE is a collective of designers, artists and architects, collaborating from different locations in Rotterdan and London. They want to make arts and design accesible for everyone.

They made the Makers Manual, tutorials to make things with materials you can find nearby you. Everyone can download them for free from their website.

Their tutorials go wider than only working with textile.

4. De Creatieve STEM

De creatieve STEM is an organisation that supports makers and thinkers from all ages and with different kind of projects.

With the project GIRLS IN STEM they have developed interesting workshops for kids.

The project MAAKBIB is an open library where a lot of workshops for kids are collected.

5. Project ESERO Mooncamp

This project Mooncamp ESERO inspired me because it could be used as an example for storytelling: the children can project themselves to a parallel universe and imagine how it would be to design specific items with recycled textile for e.g. living on the moon.

RESEARCH FOR TUTORIALS

I developped a LEAFLET with upcycled textile for the tutorial. For the moment it is empty but I will put my text in it as soon as this will be ready.
