VIII - ASSEMBLY

Materials

Component Application
Screws 3.5x7.5 mm – approximately 200 units These wood screws are used to join the pieces.
carpenter's glue It is good to use glue on the joints before installing the screws.
Metal tube 3cm diameter - 10cm long It is required for joining parts and passing the bearing screws.
Bearings for 2cm diameter tube The bearings are required to give stability to the rotation of the main tube.
Pulleys The pulleys are required to increase the RPM of the engine.
Pulley belt It is required to connect both pulleys.
1 meter long tube – 2cm diameter Main spinning tube of fiber generation plate.
Fiber plate made from a paint can This is done with a common can of paint or varnish.
1 HP single-phase motor The motor used in this project is 1 hp and 3000 RPM
Cut out parts in the CNC rouiter chapter There are 38 pieces
Printed parts in the 3D chapter There are 8 pieces
PCB assembled in the Electronics and code chapter 1 PCB

Pieces

After finishing building it and making certain modifications to the first design, the following design was concluded.

Render view

We have 38 pieces which must already be cut and sanded to proceed with the joints.

In the downloads section you can find the following 3D design that you can open with fusion 360, this will be very useful to guide you with the pieces and the position they occupy.

Pay attention to which pieces are cut out of wood as there is one piece that is cut out of 6mm acrylic.

Difference between wooden pieces and acrylic pieces.

First phase - Main structure parts

To begin, the central pieces of the machine must be joined, which must be joined first with glue and then with screws.

  • Screws 3.5x7.5 mm

The job will be done faster if you have an electric screwdriver.

Before joining the vertical pieces in the center, it is necessary to add the 3D printed pieces along with the 3cm diameter tubes.

3D pieces

At this stage it is advisable to work with the machine lying horizontally on the floor.

Installing the screws for the main joints.

Second phase - Machine base joints

The joints of the base of the machine are made so that when receiving weight it does not bend or lose stability.

  • Screws 3.5x7.5 mm

Third phase - side supports

In this section, more lateral supports are added, also a very important piece to the center of the machine that will join piece #1 and piece #2 mentioned in the first stage.

  • Screws 3.5x7.5 mm

Fourth phase - Side and central supports

In this stage, supports are made for the vertical joints in the center of the machine. The last lateral supports are also added.

Fifth phase - Motor supports

To install the motor in the main structure we must first adjust the fasteners on the body of the single-phase electric motor.

At this stage you must use the thick screws that usually come with the motor, these adjust to the base of the motor, this base is made to support the weight of the motor.

Motor guide 2

In the mechanical area that is connected to the electric motor we have the following parts.

Mechanical parts

Before installing the motor, it is necessary to screw in the bearings, and place the main 3mm diameter rotating tube, this must have the pulley adjusted to its axis.

Bearing installation

Here is a short video on how to accommodate the motor in the structure when the wooden pieces have already been screwed to the body of the motor.

It should look like this:

Control Panel

In the electronics and code chapter we develop the PCB board and conected it to the motor.

In the laser cutting chapter we cut the control panel out of 6 mm thick MDF.

We proceed to install the electrical components in the holes already cut in the control panel.
