GANTT¶
BoM bill of materials¶
I've created 3 separate BOMs for my project:
- Materials for prototype: This is the textiles and trims required to sew the final prototype.
- Materials for gelatin bioplastic artefacts: These are the materials needed to create the bioplastics.
- Materials for photography setup: these are the materials needed to create a cross-polarized photography set-up. Note: I used tri-pods, C-stands and spotlights because i already had them. If you don't have/want this, you can use a TV screen since it has a linear polarizer. Also, the fab lab had this equipment available.

Story telling script¶
For the final video, i will be working with my husband, director Winston Hacking. He has agreed to help me put together a short video to showcase the final prototype. I had a pretty clear idea of what i wanted for the video and it did not involve a story, therefore there was little need for writing a script. Instead, Winston and I discussed my inspirations and what i wanted the video to feel like.
My main inspiration was a video Winston found a few months back, burried in an online archive. Sadly, he didn't write down the source, so I don't know who made it...Tisk tisk Winston! đŸ˜‰ But I absolutely loved the video for it's simplicity and it's aesthetic. Here are some shots from the video:
Interestingly enough, you may have noticed this video is actually related to my subject: the colors that can be observed in the soap bubbles are called interference colors, and the phenomenon we are observing is called thin film interference.
With this inspiration video in mind, these are the qualities I want to transfer to my video:
- Simple, no story, just beautiful shots of an object.
- Lo-fi filming quality
- Science meets art: the rotating object/specimen gives a scientific quality to the footage, we are observing something beautiful from all angles.
- Monochrome + Interference colors.
This is all i communicated to winston, and I let him work his magic!
For the music, I knew i wanted instrumental ambient music, something that doesn't distract but complements the garment. One of our friends is a musician and makes incredible music, his name is Andrew Zukerman, this is his bandcamp. He was super gracious and gave us the permission to use one of his tracks for the video. So big thanks to Andrew!
