Colour: sunsets. bright, happy and pink.

Materials used for the dyes came from food scraps from my cooking waste like lemons, pomegranate skins, onions,avocados and herbs. As well as some common staples found in my pantry like matcha, spirulina and tumeric. sunset 1 sunset 3 sunset 2

PROCESS & WORKFLOW

Gather ingredients. Ingredients Stuff

FABRIC PREP

Cut, soaked & spring rolled the organic fibers. Soaking

GATHERING

Went to the farm to frolice and collect ingredients for the dyes like pomegranate skins, rosemary and mushrooms. Farm Gather Mush

BREWING

Brewing ingredients to make a neutral dye base. Pom Brew

REACTING

Adding mordants to the neutral dyes. Reacting Dye test

DYING

Died shorts and burnt them oops. Dying Shorts

DRYING

Hung the swatched to dry & ironed them flat. Drying Iron swatches

Prepare this recipe by collecting the ingredients necessary from the farm or your leftover food scraps.

HOT PINK

cabbage and lemon dye

* measure g of cabbage and lemon, measure baking soda & water 
* add 2g baking soda 
* simmer 
* mix mix mix 
* remove cabbage and lemons from pot 
* strain through coffee filter 
* repeat
