Research & Ideation**

GitLab screenshoot

During the first week of classes, our instructor gave us a comprehensive tour of the workspaces, Fab Lab, equipment, and safety guidelines. I particularly impressed by the diverse range of projects in progress, which showcased the capabilities of each machine.

We were also introduced to the available materials and learned how to book time for using the Fab Lab machines, including laser cutters, CNC machines, 3D printers, vacuum formers, and the Bio Lab. One of the highlights was seeing three students preparing a mixture of concrete for 3D printing, which piqued my interest in learning how to use this machine.

Afterward, we learned how to create a webpage using basic code and refreshed our knowledge of vector design. Since it was my first time working with GitLab, I encountered some difficulties with the platform, such as issues with spacing and customization. However, after watching various tutorials and consulting my instructor, I was able to insert samples of previous work, sync my website using external links and change the logo.

Fabricademy Alumni

The precedent set by student projects from previous editions of Fabricademy that caught my attention the most was Electric Skin by Nada Elkharashi, Catherine Euale, as it aligns with what I would like to develop during Fabricademy.

Although several examples were presented, this particular project resonated with me because I am interested in learning about parametric design and large-scale 3D printing to develop a biomaterial that allows for energy storage or production. The use of scientific methodologies in design has always fascinated me. While I have not completely defined my final project, I know that with the content of the various workshops, the idea can evolve.
