TANGLES

How can we listen to our surroundings and reimagine them to cohabitate with other species ?

tangles looks into the soil and green areas of our surroundings in the city and transforms measurements from the soil into sculptures via parametric design, for them to be 3D bioprinted in a material for mycelium growth.

Framed under my ongoing research around the domestic, gathering and collective rest, i look into rituals that fabulate in opposition to the commodification, domestication and exploitation of all,- both organic and inorganic beings and matter,- as labor forces under the current extractivist paradigm. Looking into the absent, questioning the boundaries between organic and inorganic life. i’m interested in processes of deep time, unreachable to our human sight, into unperceptible mechanisms that create movement and vibrations escaping our awareness. I look into nature’s symbiosis relational modes: commensalism, parasitism, and mutualism, to develop methodologies that involve collective creation (sympoiesis). Rooting these processes with sensoriality, i want to connect the unperceptible movements and sounds from the soil, to tangible sculptures, using 3D bioprinting with local waste resources to turn into a resource for mycelium substrate.
