My documentation

About me

Hi! I am Maria Jose, I am Mexican. I am a chemical engineer, with a master's degree in Biotechnology and PhD in Biochemical Engineering. I have a postdoc in Materials. I have experience in the design of polymer matrices with applications in agriculture, tissue engineering, food and textiles.

My reason for taking Fabricademy is to have the opportunity to combine technology, digital fabrication and textile design to develop innovative skills that are revolutionizing the fashion and textile industry, this because Fabricademy offers practical and multidisciplinary training at the intersection of biotechnology.

My background

I am currently a professor in the department of science and engineering at the IberoPuebla University. I collaborate with associations such as the Mexican Association of Food Sciences, AMECA A.C., RED 12.3 PDAs CONAHCYT and Though For Food. I am a member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and SMBB (Mexican Society of Biotechnology and Bioengineering).

Previous work

My line of research focuses on the development of biomaterials. I work mainly with the use and revaluation of agroindustrial waste, the extraction and characterization of bioactive compounds: polymers (chitosan, alginate, cellulose, collagen, etc.), hydroxyapatite, and antioxidants.
