  • Olivier Rizzo (United Kingdom) Designer and choreographer who works with information technology to integrate costumes into his performances. He has developed costumes that include LED lights controlled by motion sensors. This creates an atmosphere where the costume becomes an extension of the dancer’s body, giving a sense of fluidity between the human body and technology.

Why, What, Who, When, Where?

WHY? The intersection of art and science provides a unique opportunity to revolutionize traditional practices, particularly in performing arts.

Creating a biomaterial costume for dancers is not only an innovative concept but also aligns with current global trends in sustainability, technological integration, and artistic expression.

WHAT? The visual aspects of a performance—especially costume design—play a pivotal role in enhancing the dancer's presence and conveying the artistic vision.

Texture and visual impact are crucial.

Drawing inspiration from these practices, this project seeks to explore how cutting-edge materials, particularly biomaterials, can redefine costume design in dance. By combining artistic vision with scientific innovation, the goal is to create costumes that not only elevate the visual appeal of a performance but also embody sustainability and modernity. This approach aims to bridge the gap between science and art, bringing a fresh perspective to the way costumes are conceptualized and experienced on stage.
