IKTISHAF concept¶
Iktishaf (Arabic for Discovery) is a soft, modular, open-source educational kit designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of electronics and logic in a playful, hands-on way. Made from layers of broadcloth with embedded components, each module connects using metal snap buttons; making circuits easy to build without wires or tools. The project includes three kits tailored to different entry levels: Mini Makers for plug and play interaction, Tinker Logics for exploring logic gates, and Master Makers for sensor-based circuits and programming. Iktishaf is unique in its child-safe soft design, age-specific progression, and emphasis on creative exploration. It empowers children to learn through building, experimenting, and problem-solving while fostering curiosity and critical thinking. All modules and materials are open-source, making the project replicable, customizable, and accessible to educators, parents, and makers worldwide. Iktishaf bridges technology and textiles to spark discovery at every touch.
