Moodboard & Inspiration¶
My main inspiration was this Rihanna video for her lingerie brand Savagexfenty, I love how it show feminity, sensuality and it's relatable and fun at the same time, so that's what I wanted to reflect through my video and photos.
Through this video, I wanted to use food as a symbolic and visual element to represent culture — any culture — but especially my own. My Colombian roots deeply inspired this project, and showing that part of me is a way of expressing how proud I am to be a Colombian woman.
The interviews are also a fundamental part of the project. While it began with my own personal story and struggles with bras, it quickly became something bigger, a space to listen to and amplify the voices of other women. Their experiences are what truly bring the project to life.
The whole setup was inspired by the idea of a "pajama party" — a cozy, casual moment where you're just hanging out with your girlfriends. I wanted to recreate that feeling of safety and comfort, to make it a space where people felt at ease opening up about something so personal: their bodies, their identities, and their relationship with bras.
I made two moodboards for what I wanted the video to be:
Location
The weather forecast wasn't the best that specific week so at first it was planned to be shot in the rooftop but we had to use a Plan B and it was co-working space of the building I'm currently living.
Time
The video was supposed to be a minute long but I decided to do two versions:
- Sneak Peak -> 1:00 min
- Full Video -> <6:00 min
Recording time: 2 hours
Videographer
I found the videographer in a whatsapp group! I met with her on zoom and she loved the idea, the project, everything! we matched inmeadiately and got along perfectly, so it was more than perfect! I'm very happy that I got to meet her and she did a very proffesional and very beautiful work!!!
You can find her on Instagram as @alis_2203
Models
Finding the models was a journey by itself. The first one that I found was Ella, as she's doing an intership in our program I got to meet her and she´s very kind and she offered and was super happy to be part of the project, then I was looking for someone who was gone through a Breast Augmentation surgery, and I remember I met the perfect girl for it and the best part is that she´s also Colombian,Francisca was super enthusiastic about everything and I felt super glad becuase she was the perfect model for the project, now after a while talking with my mentor Ana Correa we came up with how great would it be to have a trans woman as model too! So she through posting on Instagram found a girl, Michelle, and also super nice girl, super kind and loved the whole story and idea behind the project. The best part was that three of them were from different cultures, countries, life stories and the met through Fits You! and even though they met for the first time for the video shooting they got along incredibly well from the very first moment.❤️❤️❤️
Makeup & Hair
I didn't wanted anything too producced as I wanted the vibes for the video to be casual time hanging with friends, so it looks also more relatable. So I asked the models to make the hair and makeup themselves with however the felt the most comfortable with.
The video script didn't followed a specific order I only knew which kind of shots I wanted and then using Premiere Pro I edited everything together!
Fo the music I got it from Pixabay, and I knew it had to be a latin rhythm.
1.First kind of Scene:
Formal interview in set, the questions are asked from the person recording and then the interviewed repplies
2.Second kind of Scenes:
Casual interview in coworking set
3.Third kind of Scenes:
Close-ups of the Colombian food
Important!!!¶
From the beginning I didn't plan to make a scene by scene script, I experienced before that what works for me the best is to have a clear idea and concept and then go along with the flow in the shooting, as sometimes following a script way too thoroughly didn't leave space for improvisation and fun and good ideas flow as while shooting something always comes up and it's a beautiful co-creation at the end between my main concept, the videographer shots and personal style, and the models ideas and personalities. And it couldn´t have gone any better!!!
