WHEN I MET MYSELF

Research & Concept

5 Ws who, what, when, where, why

WHAT is my project about ? Idea & Concept

The idea

We’ve all experienced moments where emotions feel so overwhelming that words fail us.

My project begins with this universal struggle, and through design, seeks to create a space where emotions can be seen and felt without the need for words

so this project is all about expressing emotions we can’t always put into words. It’s about creating designs where emotions become visible and tangible, allowing us to relate to them on a deeper level.

Presenting the emotional journey through a video performance

So the outcome of the project shows the emotional journey of reconnecting with your inner child through a dance performance.

There are two models: a child and an adult

The child expresses healing through dance, and the adult shows emotional disconnection.

Why am I doing this project?

I want to use costume design and wearable technology to express emotions that are hard to convey through words.

I want this project to help people understand their feelings better .. One day, I needed this kind of connection and expression, and I hope it can provide that for others too

Who Will Connect with This Project?

Mental Health Awareness—A visual tool to promote healing and emotional expression in awareness sessions.

Research shows that 60% of individuals feel better connected to their emotions through art and movement therapies

Designer: Iga Węglińska
Project Name: Emotional Clothing – Sensory Prosthesis Garment
Photography: Mila Łapko
Models: Martyna P (MANGO Models), Emilia D (Gaga Models)

About the Project

The Emotional Clothing project by Iga Węglińska explores the intersection of fashion and technology, creating garments that respond to the wearer's body changes. Designed as a sensory prosthesis, this innovative garment integrates advanced sensing technology to stimulate mindfulness and foster a deeper connection with one's physical state.

INTIMACY

INTIMACY is an innovative fashion project that seamlessly blends technology and personal expression. Created by Studio Roosegaarde, under the direction of Dutch designer Daan Roosegaarde, the project explores how garments can react to human interactions, creating a unique relationship between the wearer and their clothing.

Using smart e-foils and liquid crystals, the garments in INTIMACY are designed to change transparency in response to interactions such as a rising heartbeat. This dynamic transformation symbolizes a deeper connection between emotions and the physical world, making each piece of clothing a personal, expressive experience.

This project is a fascinating exploration of intimacy, technology, and design, showcasing the possibilities of wearable innovation.

NEUROTiQ by SENSOREE

NEUROTiQ uses an EEG headset sensor called the Emotiv Epoc, which features 14 sensors to read brain activity. The data is then translated into various colors that are displayed on the 3D-printed neuron shapes integrated into the design.

Feedback 2024-2025 Pitches - Application & Implication

Name Feedback
Oskar Complement the concept you have developed with results from embodied ideation workshops with the kids. Let them co-design with you the performance based on their personal experiences.
Claudia Congratulations on the storytelling and the project proposed, it's a beautiful beginning... of a challenging journey! Start working with the dancers now; what Oskar suggests is a great starting point. Let's record them while interacting with simple electronics.
Nuria Rawan, sometimes I want to understand what is happening to me and I cannot express it clearly hehehe. Your project can be super big; maybe you can start with the feelings of people. Although it is not exactly the same, your project reminded me of the "Touch of Sound".
Rico Rawan... a fascinating concept... the duality of mental health represented by the Child and the Adult. You mentioned 'making emotions tangible'. I wonder if colored LED lights really achieve this objective. While I don't want to dissuade you from using LEDs, it is rather overused and obvious. Are there other, more subtle ways to express emotions tangibly? Sound and vibration, maybe? Frequency of motion? I would love to see some other outputs aside from LEDs.
