To begin creating my mood boards, I started by analyzing the personalities of the two key figures I am representing: the ADULT and the CHILD

The adult has been deeply affected by past traumas, which have shaped who they are today. They understand that their current feelings—like being broken or even depressed—come from those past experiences. The adult knows their past explains why they feel the way they do now.
Characteristics:
- Reflective and always thinking about their emotions
- Aware of their struggles but trying to understand them
- Feeling broken or sad, but also strong enough to face it
- Quiet and deep, with a lot of unspoken emotions
Representing the Fragmentation
To show the adult’s emotional state, I thought about fragmented pieces—things that feel broken but can still be put back together. This is how I came up with the idea of broken glass or shattered fragments. The broken glass represents how trauma can leave someone feeling shattered, but it also reflects how light and beauty can still shine through those pieces, symbolizing healing and hope.

Mood Board of the Child¶
The child represents the pure inner self, filled with playful, spontaneous energy. This personality is full of curiosity and joy, expressing emotions freely without hesitation. The child is unburdened by the complexities and trauma of adulthood, offering a glimpse into the simplicity and freedom of childhood.

- Expressive and unfiltered
- Creative and imaginative
- Playful energy
Visual Representation
To represent this joyful, energetic personality, I envision a colorful and vibrant mood board. The use of bright primary colors (reds, yellows, blues) evokes a sense of fun and play. Shapes could be round and fluid, symbolizing the freedom and innocence of childhood.
I also thought about using the embedding technique to represent the childhood memories we carry with us. By embedding small, meaningful elements into the garments—such as tiny toys, objects, or symbols—the piece would carry traces of the past, symbolizing how these memories stay with us throughout life. This technique visually embodies the connection between childhood and the present, making the memories tangible and intimate.
Additionally, I plan to incorporate the natural dyeing technique into this project. Using plant-based dyes will not only tie in with the earthy, organic feel of childhood innocence, but it will also represent the natural growth and development we experience over time.

3. Post-Processing: - Sanding: Sand with progressively finer sandpaper (400-grit to 1000-grit). - Polishing: Use a plastic polish or polishing wheel for a clear shine. - Heat Treatment: Apply heat (e.g., heat gun) to smooth imperfections.
4. Coating: - Apply clear epoxy resin or varnish for a glossy finish. - Use spray lacquer for an even coating.
5. Color Additives: - Add a small amount of green dye or pigment to mimic the greenish tint of glass.

One of the standout pieces from Mary Katrantzou’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection is a mesmerizing dress adorned with intricate, embedded floral motifs. The flowers are not just printed—they are embedded into the garment, creating a rich, organic texture. This use of the embedding technique adds both visual appeal and depth, making the flowers appear to grow naturally from the fabric.
Embedding Wearable Tech in Fashion: Google’s Project Jacquard¶
Project Jacquard by Google integrates wearable technology into clothing by weaving conductive yarns into fabric. This allows the fabric to be interactive, responding to touch or gestures, turning garments into functional devices. The potential of this technology is vast, from controlling devices to monitoring posture, offering a new frontier in fashion and tech integration.
