Research & Ideation

FERRO

An idea came to me in the evening:

Could ferrofluid be combined with biomaterials? I’m not sure if it’s possible, but it could be an interesting line of exploration. Ferrofluid reacts to magnetic fields with a dynamic, fluid motion; if integrated into biomaterials, it might create a distinctly artistic and experimental effect. For instance, threads or textures could move under magnetic influence, generating a living, responsive surface. In this way, the material could evolve into a project that bridges both art and fashion.

FERROFLUID IN VIDEO

Concept

"Ferro is a dialogue between timeless strength and future innovation; the raw permanence of iron meets the fluid sustainability of bioplastics. This project is realized through biomaterials and takes inspiration from the magnetic, shifting nature of ferrofluid. Craftsmanship takes center stage: protective, sculptural silhouettes are softened by artisanal textures; weaves and surfaces are reimagined with metallic effects and bio-based materials. The palette balances industrial anthracite and rust with the unexpected depth of dark burgundy, contrasted by moss green and amber. Surfaces shift from raw and weathered to translucent and fluid forms, reflecting the transformation of an ancient element into the material of tomorrow.

Ferro is as strong as iron, as innovative as bioplastic, and as captivating as ferrofluid."

About Ferrofluid

This could become an accessory, a garment, or even an artwork .I don’t yet have a clear idea about that detail. That’s why I’ll include a few fashion projects that I find inspiring; perhaps they could be combined with biomaterials.

References & Inspiration

I am adding the references for now as sources of inspiration. For the moment, I wanted to treat this as a kind of mind map exercise. The feasibility of this project depends on the material itself, so it seems to be more experimental at this stage.
