1. Nice to meet you !

My philosophie

My practice is based on the encounter between traditional know-how and contemporary innovation. Through Manech sheep’s wool, I seek to reexamine ancient techniques and reveal the unique qualities of a local material long neglected. My project explores how to transmit, experiment with, and reinvent these techniques to create objects and textile surfaces at the crossroads of art, craft, and design. Between memory and innovation, I aim to give this fiber a new place in our daily lives and living spaces, while valorizing the tangible and cultural heritage of the region, an approach that fully reflects my values and informs my artistic references.

Circulaire

My starter pack references

All my references are rooted in the principles of circular design. They begin with materials that are overlooked or abandoned raw resources or industrial waste, and explore how these can be reimagined through low-tech approaches, craft practices, and experimental lab processes. From these foundations emerge new objects and systems that point toward the ways we might live and create in the future.

Documentation workflow

WorkShopAntoine

Before this week, I didn’t know about Markdown or GitLab. At first, I was a bit lost, but thanks to a workshop organized at GreenFabric with Antoine, a web developer, who took the time to explain this world, until then completely unknown to me, and answer our questions, I was able to get started.

MeZalando

Following that, I wanted to create a website that reflects me: simple, fun, and something I wouldn’t quickly get bored of. I chose the “White” theme I found here: MkDocs Material Colors, and then picked a typeface from Google Fonts. Its name is “Zalando,” like the online store and its iconic advertising.

BrebisManechTeteRousse

Next, I chose my “Brebis Manech à Tête Rousse” as my logo, because it’s at the center of my work and deserves to be highlighted. I decided to present my projects through images with links redirecting to my official website, since there is more information there and it also makes my GitLab lighter.

As explained in “Assignments,” I chose to present myself through Google Maps during these 13 weeks, since it’s one of my favorite tools. I think discovering others through the places they embody is one of the riches of the Fabricacademy. To share mine, I retrieved the “iFrame” directly from MyMap and integrated it into my code. I then captured all my overviews and added them to GitLab.

Iframe

For “State of the art,” I renamed it “Nice to meet you” because I find it friendlier and warmer. I chose to talk about the hidden side of my practice, which involves the different steps of transforming my material, from the fleece to my textile.

I also added a few book references, my “must-haves” ! I created my visuals in Photoshop since I feel more comfortable with it and don’t yet know Gimp very well, I’m giving myself time to learn it over the coming weeks. Finally, I chose to add website links to my references to make documentation easier for readers. Sorry if many of my references are in French !
