We Do Bamboo - 2nd Visit Report

Scope

To better understand processes that We Do Bamboo undertake for sugar removal and bamboo drying.

Brief discussion with the technical lead - Salvatore Correddu.

Outcome:

  1. Salvatore sent their research material on the 2 processes
  2. ![Process Summary]
  3. We Do Bamboo to provide sample poles (2.5m) as follows; for each species, provide both wet and dry bamboo at both 4 and 6 years .

We-Do-Bamboo -Treatment and Drying Summary

  • Bamboo is harvested during low-sugar seasons (January - March) and (June - October)
  • Borate based chemical treatment is then used on the poles
  • Bamboo is stored in a way that avoids soil contact to prevent termite and fungal attacks
