Deliverables¶
Material Applications¶
The material systems developed through this research can evolve into:
- Fermentation-derived cosmetic powders
- Skin-contact bandage and patch materials
- Rehydratable SCOBY-based films
- Probiotic mask structures
This project does not present a finalized consumer product but rather an experimental biofabrication framework.
Project Outcomes¶
The expected outcomes of this development phase include:
- A documented natural pigment library derived from kombucha fermentation
- Experimental skin-contact material prototypes
- A structured fermentation-to-material workflow
- Open-source documentation of the research process
Future Development¶
Future iterations will focus on:
- Freeze-drying and rehydration strategies
- Improving pigment density and stability
- Alternative binding systems beyond wax
- Integrating living-derived materials into flexible biofilms
- Exploring responsive or wearable bio-systems
