Deliverables

Material Applications

The material systems developed through this research can evolve into:

  • Fermentation-derived cosmetic powders
  • Skin-contact bandage and patch materials
  • Rehydratable SCOBY-based films
  • Probiotic mask structures

This project does not present a finalized consumer product but rather an experimental biofabrication framework.

Project Outcomes

The expected outcomes of this development phase include:

  • A documented natural pigment library derived from kombucha fermentation
  • Experimental skin-contact material prototypes
  • A structured fermentation-to-material workflow
  • Open-source documentation of the research process

Future Development

Future iterations will focus on:

  • Freeze-drying and rehydration strategies
  • Improving pigment density and stability
  • Alternative binding systems beyond wax
  • Integrating living-derived materials into flexible biofilms
  • Exploring responsive or wearable bio-systems
