My research on weaving technology was motivated by an exploration of the evolution of the loom. Early weaving techniques utilized basic tools, such as the warp-weighted loom, which depended on gravity to maintain tension. Subsequently, portable devices like the backstrap loom demonstrated how weaving practices adapted across different cultures and environments. Over time, innovations such as the heddle system and the flying shuttle increased efficiency and productivity, resulting in significant advancements during the Industrial Revolution. The development of the Jacquard loom, which used punched cards to control patterning, marked a major milestone by introducing automation that influenced the design of modern digital systems.
