Hi! I'm Mariam

I’m a fashion designer with professional experience in garment production and a deep passion for the avant-garde.

Education - Specialist Degree in Fashion Design Moscow State Textile University ‘A.N. Kosygin’ 2006-2011

My journey combines two worlds:

  • exploration of new forms, meanings, and visual languages during my studies,

  • and "real life" garment production — developing consumer-friendly and technologically advanced solutions while working for a leading menswear brand.

For me, textile-academy is more than a course — it is an important step forward, opening doors to new possibilities, creative collaborations, and unexplored directions in design.

My background

I was born in Yerevan, grew up in Moscow, and a few years ago returned to Armenia with my family. Today I live in Dilijan — surrounded by mountains, pure air, and inspiring nature, — which gives me new energy for my work as a fashion designer and fuels my search for innovative, meaningful creations.

Previous work

My professional path began in a large Russian menswear brand, where I worked as a designer with a primary focus on outerwear. Jackets became my key area of expertise, and I particularly enjoyed this product category for its complexity and potential for innovation. It offered a wide range of possibilities: from integrating cutting-edge fabrics to designing functional features such as inner pockets with RFID-protection. These experiences sharpened my skills in balancing creative exploration with practical application, ensuring that the products were both innovative and appealing to a wide audience.

During my study I developed several collections using not comman for fashion materials as metal or X-ray images, exploring new forms and testing some new deisng approaches.

Here are some of them.

Silentium The collection inspired by the idea that the deepest treasures are found within, and that silence is the most graceful way to keep them.”

ARTS The ‘Arts’ collection emerges as a study of how form evolves when costume design is viewed from above. Its most vivid embodiment is the piece ‘Fine Arts,’ where the form unfolds only in profile, while from the front it reduces to the pure silhouette of the human figure. The collection is made with metal and natural silk. Images are hand-paindted on silk by me.
