1. State of the art, project management and documentation¶
My First week with Fab Lab was daunting with the prospects of coding and uploading documentation and images. Never having coded in my life and being someone that enjoys to express myself through art, I really wanted to personalize my site from the get go. Im looking foward to getting my head around the technicalities of coding so i can show my expressive nature through art.
References & Inspiration¶
Leos Bogers site was inspiring to me as it was clear and simple to navigate. Despite wanting to try out new styles and document in my own unique way, I felt it was best to crawl before walking!

Documentation workflow¶
Coding !@!!#*—-"¶
I struggled quite a bit with getting my head around understanding Markdown, Gitlabs and coding as a whole!.
However I have to admit that that biggest block for me was fear!. After panicking the entire tutorial, I created a mental block. Despite that I didn’t give up and worked on understanding how to document my work. I honestly had doubts if I was able to achieve this very first task. In the end with the help of my instructor and tech support/Julian I was finally beginning to understand how to navigate coding and building a website with documentation.
Step 1¶
Observation¶
I spend a lot of time trying recognise certain symbols and what the created if used. These symbols belong to a language in coding called Markdown. A side by side view, while making commits was extremely import to understanding what could be done and how. Adding images and being successful, brought along hope and my doubts began to dissipate. I was finally making progress!
Step 2¶
Courage¶
Now was the time to feel the fear and do it anyway. I deleted most of the code already available, and started inputing my own markdown. It was exciting to see it working and building the website, one image at a time. I used photoshop to keep the images small below 200kb. Uploaded the images into Gitlab making sure to label everything clearly and went for it !
Step 3¶
Commit¶
After uploading all my text and images, I began to see my vision of documentation coming to life, I was even able to add a whole new page - About.md (markdown) added some branding to make it more personal.
