About me

About me

Hi, I´m Patricia I live in Mexico in the state of Querétaro, I ‘m 56 and I work at the University of Anahuac Querétaro. My profession is Fashion Designer, has been my passion since I was a little girl. I consider myself very dedicated, sharp-eyed and structured. My inspiration comes from observing nature, the colors and the essence around. Love to observe and admire art in all their ways, the way of being of the people around me. I had the opportunity to live in different countries, to meet new people, to learn from other cultures and that I think enriched the way I look at things, my thoughts and transformed me into the person I am today. I believe that every day is an adventure, a way to potentiate who we are and to make a change. I love to be in constant search for new challenges and opportunities. Having a good attitude and helping others is the best way to reach happiness and leave a legacy.

My background

I was born in beautiful Mexico City, I’m the youngest of 5 and at home I was always surrounded by photography, 8mm movies, books and art. Since I was a little girl, I loved to dress my dolls, make them clothes and play with them. Seeing my mother sewing on my grandmother´s Singer machine inspired me to experiment, transform and create clothes and finally after many years I was able to study what I loved Fashion Design and that journey has taken me where I am today, getting to be part of Fabricademy. It is a great opportunity to learn new things, to break barriers, meet new talented people and to challenge me to learn new ways of doing things. It´s going to be a fantastic adventure, I'm sure.

My journey

In this page I will guide you through my journey in fashion so you can get a glimpsed of who I am. You will find pictures of my work, especially garments with natural textiles made in Oaxaca, some tailored dresses, some handmade jewelry. Also, my journey teaching and learning together with different artisans from Queretaro, activity I love. Hope you like it!

Collection Boudoir Enchanté

Collection Boudoir Enchanté

This is part of a collection I made as a personal challenge. Must of the dresses were used by my daughter and her friends. Boudoir Enchanté evokes an ethereal, romantic journey into the intimate and enchanted realm of femininity. I think it encapsulated the soul a collection celebrating the soft power and hidden strength of a woman. It was a challenge, because many of the dresses had embroidery and made in mannequin.

Queretaro Artisans Project

Queretaro Artisans Project

Handmade embroidery and openwork are an ancestral heritage that has been taught from generation to generation. A great effort is being made to rescue this craft as technological advances and globalization have led to a loss of interest in continuing the tradition. The courses and collaboration seek to open new horizons and new paths. Since 2017 I had the privilege of collaborating with artisans from different communities of the state teaching them patternmaking and machine sewing and they taught me their embroidery techniques. It has been a great experience.

Project Tierra Viva

Project Tierra Viva

I work hand by hand with a Textile Designer. Tierra Viva collection is a celebration of nature, tradition, and the vibrant spirit of Oaxaca. The name evokes the connection between man, earth, and timeless craftsmanship woven into each piece. The textiles are woven by skilled artisans from Oaxaca, each garment tells a story that span generations. Each garment is a celebration of craftsmanship, capturing the intricate weavings and natural dyes that are the heart of Oaxaca’s artisanal tradition. Making garments with this textile is a challenge, because it falls apart and deforms while you are sewing.

Black dress

Black dress

This dress is very simple but for me was complicated because it was my first time working with stretch material. Was complicated to calculate how much you have to reduce the pattern in order to fit correctly. A lot of failures were involved, but I was able to made it. All the flowers that you can see are handmade and emboridered each one by hand and a lot of patience.

Other projects

Pictures of other projects like, handmade jewerly, recycle garments, and an example of a traditional old school tailored suit

I worked with recycle garments making an outfit for a school runway. I like to make handmade jewelry, is a way to express, create and show. It really relaxing. The tailored suit that you can see I made it in a traditional old school tailoring course, everything hand-sewn.
