What is embroidery? An art, a craft, a job,a manual activity, an evocation, a leisure, a punishment or a pleasure? It is known of the existence of embroidery in ancient times,thanks to low reliefs and writings. The thread and the needle are prior to agriculture, its appearance is dated in prehistory, 15,000 a. C., in the upper paleolithic. It seems that the necessary materials for the clothing making have served as currency exchange between nomadic populations.Everything indicates that the oldest embroidery ever found in the world to this day is located in present-day South America. It is a mat that has been found in the Chinchorro Cemetery, at north of Chile. And it can be dated between 5,400 and 3,700 a.p. The vegetable mat has been embroidered with camelid and human hair based on designs geometric and has been part of the mortuary outfit of the individuals found in said cemetery (STANDEN, 2003). On the same site it has also been found a 7.5 cm spine needle long and 0.2 cm in diameter.

EMBIRD STEP BY STEP

Here the step wy step of the embroidery process in FabLab BCN!

  1. Open the Manager.
  2. Open Editor.
  3. Select the hoop Janome 240 x 200.
  4. The Editor does nothing you need to open the studio.
  5. Check hoop in Studio.
  6. Image/Import image/import your file in jpg or png.
  7. Continously press the magic hand in order to select your strategy.
  8. On the right side at th screen select Add similar in order to have all the things of same color.
  9. Right click and generate stitch.
  10. Right click /group.
  11. Right click on the layer and edit in order to edit the style at stitch you like.
  12. Save the .eof file.
  13. Once you have fix your style of stitches, go back to Compite and Open Editor.
  14. Cancel that new saving and open the sew smulator to visualiza the path.
  15. Save in 6 format edr,jef,jeft,jpx,ptn,sew.

in this case I tried to embroider the drawing in three colors, with a double textile, the result was not very good since, as seen in the photos, the part embroidered in color as it degrades does not come out with enough detail, so it is not good to make very small drawings in such detail. and in the case of wanting to do it, it is essential to study the different stitches that are in embird to choose the one that best fits so that the drawing is defined
