1. State of the art, project management and documentation¶
I took part of the Fabricademy's Bootcamp in Iceland, this year in May. So I was already well introduced to the state of art !
Since the bootcamp, I want to do a repertory website of all the amazing designers, and projects Anastasia, Cecilia and co showed us during this all and intensive week. Between the portfolio and directory, it would be a great tool for me to preach the good word and to popularize smart textile in my local lab. I'm thinking of making it as i go throw the fabricademy's program, as a side project, so I'll start a new page to document my process.
A few days ago, I met Florence Bost, who was curious about my Textile Lab, and went to visit us in Lyon. She is an smart textile designer, and she wrote a book about textiles innovations and actives function, that I hurried to buy right after she close my door ! And I've just receveid it, and it's amazing, and in french.
Maybe it would be great to invite Florence for one of our Monday's Recitation, so she can present her work and industrial case study ?
Tips form my remote guru¶
I was introduce to my remote mentor/guru Romain, we have a first call to get in touch, and he provides me a ton of advise.
Do a retro planning¶
I'm already super late doing it, I've never done any of it before. It's usely my clients who provide the retroplanning and I adapt my schedule to fit in. But this time, I know I need to be super organised, as I am equal student and node, running two businesses (freelancing designer + Le Textile Lab) I really have no choice, my little bullet journal won't be enough ! I lost myself trying all the app in the market to find the good one... So finally, I got back to my first love that I've already experiment in the past Todoist witch is really simple and with a good UI design.
need to add a screen capture and share the template (if it possible, not sure about it...)
Clone gitlab on your desk and use terminal and command line¶
So far I didn't take time to do this recommendation but after few days using online commits, I see very well how it would helps my workflow and will save me time... For uploading more than one picture at a time or working offline.
I plan to do it tomorrow, so come back later, I'll describe the process.
Be precise on what you will take in picture¶
Storytelling is important in Fabricademy - thought the writing but also with pictures. Ideal is no texte without picture and no picture without texte
- take photo/video of proccess step by step
- tons of screenshot, to record parameter
- upload and sort photo as you go
- use Sips to resize images on Mac but save originals before !
I already have a good workflow using Dropbox synchronise with all my device MacbookPro, Surface Pro, Ipad and Iphone. All photo form my Iphone are automatically upload to dropbox, the same with screenshot on Macbook.
Have a little routine, and write documentation each day, every evening for example¶
Plan what classes can match with my final project, and wich ones are for fun, a bubble of freedom¶
On my home page, I've started a list of ideas I want to developp during Fabricademy.
Design & Content wireframe¶
I've made minor change in the file mkdocs.yml. First to change the site name. Then I saw I could change the color of the theme, and put my own url for the social icon in the footer.
I also need to create my own wireframe to organize my content.
