3. Preparation for PPD session
project planning¶
After talking with my mentor yesterday about my progress I have updated my project calendar here:
I've also set myself some tasks to complete to prepare for my PPD session and my visit to Eurecat
1. Design the 3 other pieces which will integrate all the pressure points from my work focus
2. Work on some computational design around these seperate pieces
3. Work on making the bioceramic/bead samples which is essential the project
computational lace design¶
- possible idea for working with fractals with chimpanzee plugin; this research proposal gives insight
I will use Grasshopper to generate a parametric lace/knit design. Isabella Schuh's magnetic field research relates well to the visuals of lace for my idea to incorporate pressure points: in grasshopper, this deals with merge fields.
I saw this documentary Black Holes: The Edge of All We Know earlier in the summer. It explores how global space stations collectively program satellites to photograph a black hole and get more information about it. This article talks about astronomers finding more cosmic voids in the universe where our laws of physics do not apply: this basically challenges the majority of what we know to be true.
tutorial i¶
i find the outcome of the tutorial really pleasing and i'm exciting to manipulate this more for my lace/knit design.
this would be really nice to animate
tutorial ii¶
This is another tutorial I followed to gain some more understanding on the process
tutorial iii¶

PICTURES AND STEPS OF BACK DESIGN AND COMPONENTS
expanding on acupuncture¶
In my first toile, I show the location of some pressure points I want to focus on: with a lot of detail in the back. These are reflected in the numbered nomenclature.
The sample is starting point and the circle points on the back are much bigger than I anticipate the for the final design.
To design effectively around these points I need to clarify their positions and if the outer points are reflected on the other side of the spine. I sent an email to Jo to find out and she confirmed this.
reading¶
I found this book Acupuncture Points by Deborah Bleecker a useful guide on some primary points too.
I plan to design around these focused points on the legs and hands to go with the body piece.
