Reference & Inspirations¶

During this week, wich is the final one of 1st part of Fabricademy, we had to think about a project we would like to develop on ourselves during the 2nd part of the program. I decided to develop more deeply the Biofabricating materials topic we have seen on week 06, starting from the wastes production observation during Craft Beer & Cider production. I am thinking about exploring a little bit more the subject in general to start my project, to see in wich kind of transformation (Mycelium, Kombucha, bioresins, others...) process I continue, and to test then different applications related to the Beverages lifecycle, including packaging & communication tools. I would integrate some topics seen during other weeks like Thermochromic inks, Laser cutting, CNC milling, 3D printing & tooling definition too in my creative process.
My family is producing craft beer in Normandy since about 2 years and Green Fabric workshop is sharing its space with a craft cider association. And I worked for 5 years at a glass company experimenting big packaging issues. So I see some opportunities there to learn a lot on new topics by starting from previous experiences, fails & successes, and with some support.
Process¶
Following the lecture of Anastasia, I have started a Miro board to group my researchs & inspirations, and to define my project perimeter thanks to the LoopHoles ideation tool from Transitions.
These ideation steps are available in an open Miro board dedicated to the project
Research¶
- My first idea of product is packaging, and to explore folding & foaming solutions of biomaterials. I have then explored other using and developed a completely different application in the finalization of my project.
