1. State of the art, project management and documentation¶
Research & Ideation¶
I’m very inspired by the shapes and movements find in nature and leave the anthropocentric mentality behind. My research has been mostly theory like Object Oriented Ontology that I applied for my degree project, but I'm excited to be able to make a project and theory a reality.
References & Inspiration¶
Now, let's talk about my references and inspirations for the Fabricademy program. When I first found out about Fabricademy I was in awe with some of the students work using the technique of 3d printing on fabric, and when we got a tour around the installations and saw all the equipment I couldn't help it but smile, there is everything you need to make your work possible and even if there isn't you can build it yourself which is really cool.
Here are some pictures of Iaac!!!
Anatomic Couture¶
This project inspired me because the human body is so fascinating as we have plenty of layers and to translate that into a visible and also wearable project is so amazing to me, in the next picture you can see the layer I like the most.

Coral Artefact¶
This project caught my attention because the incredible result and the documentation of the materials that she used. I found amazing the reversible thermocrhomic pigment because I didn't know it was possible to dye fabric with a material that can ´disappear´ after it reaches a particular temperature.

Morié Drops¶
I loved this project because of the shapes that he created, he did a lot of design exploration to get the results, which also I found really cool that he made more than one dress but he changed chose a different filament for each one so you can see the different outcomes and material properties.

Tools¶
Here you can find some of the tools I used to work on this documentation.
You can see along the documentation workflow how I used each one of them.
Let me show you...
Documentation workflow¶
We have to use Gitlab platform and Mkdocs language to make the documentation of our work through the program and I haven´t coded since I was in school, so it took me a while to get the hang of it but it wasn't unfamiliar or weird and also got the support and information needed so there wasn´t really like a big problem or issue with learning how to work with it.
Step 1¶
My first step was to decide the color palette and the font I wanted to use so my website matches my personality, after that choice I could just upload the images and write the information, but first, I wanted to have my template finished. So as the last collection from my brand I used bicolor PLA, I wanted the header to have a gradient so it reflects the essence of what brought me to Frabricademy in the first place.
I began wondering how to do it but after some thinking I remembered that it's better to be obvious when coding and after a few tries using gradient instead of solid in the code I got this in my stylesheets 'extra.css'
Also I added this line to the mkdocs to make it work
Step 2¶
My second step also meant a lot, to design my very own personal logo, as I've made logos for others or my brand but never one to myself. I got pretty excited about this
I began writting my name, then took the first letters of my name and last name, then the 'C' of Coronel has kind of the shape of the moon, which I've loved starring at since I was just a little girl, I even prayed to it as I find how it shines and changes through the year at night incredibly beautiful, I never get tired of it. At first I wanted the moon shape to be obvious and literal, but then as I played around with the logo and distorted it, I found a loop that makes the logo looks like it has no beggining or end, and finally it looks like a ring which is something I've worn my whole life, it's part of who I am and is like my personal mark so it was just perfect to represent me
It means myself (my name, ring), what I love (nature and the movement), what I believe (We never stop changing and evolving, but we return to our roots, we're looping)
Step 3¶
I chose my picture and made a few changes to make it "cooler" as I've never had good portraits taken, so it is from a while ago but it was like the most decent one, what's funny is that choosing the picture is what took me longer, but it's perfect I liked the result, there's a random fact about me and is that I love Photoshop, I enjoy editing and playing around with photos. Also, the whole picture is black & white but the earrings have color.
Step 4¶
I uploaded all the pictures and you have to be very careful with the route and dots because it may not work if there's like a dot missing so here are some tips that worked for me while coding and also editing the pictures to upload.
It got messy when I wanted to put two photos next to each other so for me it was easier to do it in Photoshop like this:
On the other hand be careful and don't rush it because details matter when coding, my images weren´t working but I realized that I wasn´t doing it right. If your images aren´t working look if you have two dots at the beginning and the extension (.jpn or png) written correctly.
Finally, even if I scaled my photos in Photoshop I put them through TinyJPG so I could save even more storage.
So this is pretty much how I worked on my website, It was a lot of fun!
