Treatment, sterilization, inoculation¶
The sterilization is usefull for not adding others bacteria inside our work.
For the Scoby collect directly to the producer there are not particular sterilization. For more details to making it by ourself go in the week 6.
Sterilization for Mycelium¶

Material¶
For the sterilization of the little materials I use essentially the Ethanol; for the jar and petri dishes I use the autoclave cooker.
Substrate¶
For sterilized the substrate I use different process:
For the textile fabric sometimes I was washing it sometimes not. The natural fabrics are similar process to textile fabric.
Space¶
Cleaning space mean: cleaning the air and surface arround where we want to work.
I use different method for clean the space :

Using the camping gaz during the innoculation part and in the lab.

Using Ethanol for cleaning my work space

Using a UV lamp specially use in the lab, in Strate school where there lot of passage and others biomaterials arround

At home I only use ethanol or hydroalcoolic gel.

Laminar flow wood
Inspirations and researchs :
The laminar flow wood is using for cleaning air of others bacteries during manipulation of microbial. In the starter of the project I was aswell really considering to make it one for the lab. For the place, time and didn't know enough about mushrooms when I start I decided to didn't make it.
Camping Gaz
We have already camping gaz in the lab.
UVC Lamp
I bought one in the second hand shop. Is used for disinfection of air and certain surfaces to reduce the risk of infection by bacteria or viruses.
It is preferable to stay away from it during the time of its use by leaving the room. Use between 15 and 30min depending on the model.
I'm not really satisfy. I feel desoriented and sick when the lamp is working. I didn't recommand to buy and use it.
Inoculation¶
Inoculation is hading mycelium inside the substrate already sterilized.

Wear a mask, gloves and be careful if you have a long hair to be atatched!
Sterilize the place and material with the Ethanol.
Turn on the camping gaz during the process
Add part of the mycelium inside the jar with substrate.
Close the jar
Identify
Store it
