Week 09 was launched with an inspiring lecture from Lily Chambers & Adriana Cabrera. I have started this week by doing a lot of inspiration researchs, combining inflatable structures, the visual aesthetic of cells, and aerial pressure sensations.

Then I wanted to explore a bit the reaction of thin plastic layers with laser cutting & engraving, by adapting my maps vectors already drawn during week 07. The idea was to superpose 2 layers of plastic foils to assemble it by laser. I started by some matrixes of test, like with other materials. And I tough that it was not working so great (laser is shrinking a lot the materials) even if some parameters were assembling the layers. The aesthetic was not sharp, and it was smelling a lot during the laser process.
I didn’t take time at this moment to complete my trials with a larger scale test, and switched later to a stitching solution, inpired by some map embroideries I did for my final project. I have continued this exploration of week 09 while I was on vacation in Japan after the Fabricademy rush period for final project. I went to the great shop Tokyu Hands in Shibuya, Tokyo and found some nice coupons of plastic foils in transparent and black, as well as some plastic tubes with different diameters. I tooked my embroidery kit in Japan and used it, as well as the maps drawn previously, to test the stiching of plastic foils. I like this first result and think I will continue this manual exploration around plastic foils & colored yarns.
