Deliverables¶
For the project "93% rainforest 7% Tech; biomimicri of frogskin" a detailed planning was developed and alot of research was done as well as interviews conducted. Some steps have been taken regarding fieldtrips, collecting plantmaterials, creating samples of biomaterials and biochromes and digital designing and toolmaking. There is so much more to do! Find the progress here in the slideshow.

TIMEFRAME & GANTT¶
Detail planning of the 3 month project development phase was made with planning tool * Monday Here I developed a timeframe which is automated into a GANNT and a project dashboard.
The app was more user friendly to me than MIRO for this particular exercise. I've made GANNTs before usually in excel but after getting acquainted to this tool, I found it very useful. I embedded the Monday timeframe below as well as a link to review in the app.

The GANNT file is added here as an PDF file.
BoM bill of materials¶
In a next step I identified the materials needed.

I estimate that I spend approximately 250 USD on materials and ingredients for the final project. It was all locally sourced.

Story telling script¶
I developed the story telling script in Canva. You can find the link to "93% Forest 7% Tech; Biomimicri of Frog skin" embedded here. The story focusses on the importance of the bio economy and using the rainforest in a sustainable way for input materials and as an inspiration for creativity and innovation.
Storyboarding 93% forest 7% tech biomimicry of frogskin by Reina Raveles
Naration:
The Amazon Rainforest
It is MY gift to you
All these gems inside
Lush green
beyond every shade you can imagine
And then more Colors
Beautiful sounds
Exquisite wildlife
Some dangerous
Others more afraid of you than you are of them
Many fit in the palm of your hand
The Amazon
Terrifying and intimidating at times
But as far as the eye can see
It is yours
MY gift to you
Healing
Peaceful
A beautiful surprise
In all dimensions
Look closely and you will see
MY gift to you
You are free to use
Don’t damage it
Beyond repair
UPDATE: due to time constraint I had to change the original idea for a storyboard. The essential message stays the same as before.
- scene 1 Forest images with a voice over: The Amazon rainforest is a gift to humanity
- scene 2 Reina Raveles talks about the journey of creating bio materials from and inspired by the Amazon
- scene 3 The camera zooms in on different biomaterials and on the collection of bags inspired by poison dart frogs and partially made from biomaterials created.
- scene 4 ... The journey does not end here but only just began

Mentoring notes¶
Mentors in all sessions may share with you their comments, notes, advise, projects and technical equipment to check out. This is good place to share those, so that you can find them later on when you need them the most!
Oscar Tomico: It's a good example of the symbiotic relationship between nature-culture-research-tech Pick your fight: make a choice to focus on garment creation during Fabricademy: make an excellent product as an example for an educational program after Fabricademy Make a roadmap for after Fabricademy Create something people can connect to Be careful about your words dissection is collonial/ extractive, dont let it backfire choose words like dicover, unveil...
Cecilia Rampanti: I think glossary / vocabulary that suits your vision may be helpful/supporting your vision and principles, maybe the word “digitally dissecting” is sending a different message than your vision portrays - maybe you are more highlighting or uncovering than dissecting? Unveiling perhaps? Is a forest guide (a bit like the calendar of abundance we spoke about last time) a fundamental tool/medium/interaction for your project to be understood/your values to be embodied? The ways you are documenting - that you showed also in the previous sessions - are important to your process I think, with all the pictures, and if you can link these better with some of the process tools/educational bits you were creating
Petra Garajová - love the symbiotic relationship!! - would be great to look at it from a human perspective how would the same animal behavior look like for us? using mapping and parametric design - or using a material that changes colors to mimic the visual behaviors - Use Grasshopper to 3D design - Map what influences the color: food, environment etc.

Oscar noted its political, so be careful that people won't use this the other way around Is a forest guide (a bit like the calendar of abundance we spoke about last time) a fundamental tool/medium/interaction for your project to be understood/your values to be embodied?
