Fish skin with Ictyos¶

About the tanning mordanting part: inside the different video we watch they didn't use the same technic some use the mimosa bark grinding. We didn't have and choose to try by scratch and experimental. The fish skins had a first tanning by Ictyos.
Hot mordanting¶
* 50g of skins fish by Ictyos = 2 fish skins
* 5g of oak galls
* Put on a plate to heat
* 10min at 70 degrees
* Rinse
After this first test :
We decided to cut in two part the others skins we had for dispatch and see how is going for the next experience : * One we will decided to softner directly and dying after. * And other one to directly dying and after add softener.
Making softener¶
- 10g of vegetable oil
- 10g of marseille soap
- 1 egg yolk
Cold mordanting¶
- Put the skins in the cold mardanting recipe we made before
- We leave it during one night
🥽 The skins didn't retract.
Cold dying¶
- We used the end of the color baths that we had used during dye week.
- The color didn't really stay on it
Slow hot mordanting¶
- Put on a plate to heat really slowly for going in temperature.
- When you are at 50° STOP it we observ the skins start to retract
- Leave the skins inside
- Wait time to go in the ambiant temperature
- Rinse
