Here are few projects, research papers, expos, performances that have inspired me.

Research papers¶

Some research about interculturality and language, also based on journal articles such as “Languages and Cultures as Objects and Adventures. Specify, Generalize, Singularize” by Jacques Demorgon, in a French journal of language-culture didactology and lexiculturology, Ela.

And also in the French book “Langues et cultures : une histoire d'interface”, which deals with the theme of communication between people with different languages, knowledge and cultures. This requires processes such as translation, interpretation and cultural adaptation. These processes enable us to move from one conceptual domain to another, from one discipline to another, from one language to another, and from one culture to another. They also encourage the emergence of new concepts and the modification of existing ones, by facilitating the exchange and fusion of ideas between different cultural and linguistic perspectives.
This implies changes and adaptations for the individual who may experience this state between two cultures.

An interesting article by Christopher Frayling: “On Craftsmanship: towards a new Bauhaus” on the differences between new and old craftsmanship, which leads me to reflect on the meaning given in my project to the inspiration of traditional Korean craftsmanship and the use of new technologies to transcribe it.

Fabricademy's projects¶

From the very beginning of Fabricademy, I was captivated by Margret Guttormmsdottir's project. Having practiced dance for several years, I wondered how I could in turn convey my emotions and feelings through this personal project linked to textile design.

Podcast¶

Podcast (in french): Sung Shim COURRIER (journalist in Brussels) made a podcast on her own perception of being an adopted Korean in Belgium.

"Vous avez eu tous les visages"(You've had all the faces) is the story of an endless quest for identity. It's a bare-bones attempt to make the most of women's courageous and generous words about their desire to have a child, their adoption, their uprooting, their lack of answers, and their experience of racism. There are some 4,000 adoptees of Korean origin in Belgium. This sound creation is the point of view of one of them.
