Andrés Zunún's Lab

Hello everyone, this is my introduction to the maker world and the beginning of a great adventure. I am excited to share with you about myself, the way how I view creativity in the digital age, and the goals I have set for myself so far.

Please have a seat and welcome to my crib.

My Story and Motivation

profile photo

I was born in Chiapas, Mexico. But when I was 18, I moved to the city of Puebla...

Where I started my Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design. At first, I didn't understand what my role within this field was, what specialty I could thrive in freely, or what my favorite subject was. Nevertheless, I remained open to exploring and never closed myself off to possibilities. That is why today I am studying at Fabricademy.

family mom

My family is my principal motivation. Especially my mother, who gives me the opportunity to be here, even though she is no longer with me. Thank you to them for trusting, supporting, and guiding me through this process.

My creations

Some of my previous projects focused on product development, frugal innovation, conceptualization, and cooperative design.

Tlaolli 2025

tlaolli

Tlaolli is a grain preservation and storage system developed for small-scale farmers in San Mateo Ozolco, Puebla, a Nahua indigenous community with high levels of marginalization where rain-fed agriculture is the main source of livelihood. Its function is to preserve corn and other grains through an airtight storage system with gravity dispensing. The proposal was developed through a participatory co-design process with local farmers and the community enterprise Mazolco Azul, ensuring cultural relevance, ease of use, and adaptation to the community's agricultural practices.

Corteza de Sol - Sunbark 2026

sunbark

This lamp design was created as a proposal for the Museo Amparo souvenir shop in the city of Puebla. It combines the use of symbolic materials and colors, such as handcrafted amate paper for the shade, created traditionally to represent Mexico's cultural wealth, alongside digital manufacturing techniques like stereotomy and 3D modeling.

Vaivén 2025

vaiven

It is a modular furniture system developed for single-person households which, due to limited spaces, suffer from reduced storage surfaces that lead to disorganization and clutter. Its value proposition lies in its simple assembly method, allowing for multiple reconfigurations without external help.
