About me

Hello, I am Erin Laurel Hayhow. I have a sustainable fashion brand called EIRINN HAYHOW. The name EIRINN is the gaelic word for Ireland, influenced by my irish roots, and I feel a more PUNK way of spelling my name.

A combination of science, philosophy and spirituality make up my brand philosophy as I ‘See the beauty in everything, and find the light in the darkness.’ It is through the narrative of each collection I try to reconnect people to the earth. I create unique, high vibe garments, salvaged from unwanted materials, and naturally dyed from foraging local plants and berries.

Sustainability has always been at the heart of my creativity. A self-taught designer, my love of fashion came from a young age.

'Putting my legs through the bottom of carrier bags from our weekly shopping trips, pulling up the handles like straps, I had made my first pair of dungarees. paper - mêrching together tissue boxes and toilet roll tubes, painting them pink, I made myself some high-heeled shoes, then strutted down my garden like a catwalk.'

This playfulness is still present in my practice today.

I initially studied Fine Art, graduating with a 1st. After graduating, I spent many years in Berlin, which had a huge influence on my work. I returned to the UK in 2018 to study my masters in Fashion Design and graduated with a distinction in 2019.

I create my own dyes from foraging plants and berries and using fruit and vegetable waste. Everything is made from salvaged and sustainable materials that have a positive impact on our ecosystem.

I continue to research innovative ways to produce materials from natural resources and I am SUPER excited to take part in the Fabricademy program. Particularly looking to grow my own materials from food and plant waste, and experiment with mushroom and coffee fabrics.

My Brand has been recommended by Vogue as one of the best Vegan Brands 2021, I am supported by London Fashion Week, The British Fashion Council and recognised by the Guardian.
