1. State of the art, project management and documentation

This week I learnt how to document my project within Gitlab and set up my profile using basic code, this is something that I had not ever tried to do before, but I am quite enjoying it. I was able to embed a video and images into my profile, as well as changing the font colour on my profile page.

As well as learning these new digital techniques, I have spent some time getting settled into Barcelona and exploring the city. It is such a beautiful city! I love how the whole city feels organic. There is a light dust in the air, but the whole streets are full of so many beautiful trees and the sunsets are phenomenal. The city is surrounded by the most incredible mountains, I am so excited to visit them.

Research

I am currently reading a book 'the heartbeat of trees' as inspiration for my next collection that I will be developing post my fabricademy journey. The book talks about the similarities between humans and trees and that we are the only species on earth that is affected emotionally by seeing green and being among the trees, as well as them providing as with oxygen. Some ancient texts and artworks even suggest that humans once were trees, rooted in the ground and that this was the first stage of human life before our evolution. Could this be true? Like us, scientific evidence shows us that trees also have a heartbeat, it is just so slow we never noticed it. Water is pumped around their body to their branches in the way our heart pumps blood. Trees also have a certain electronic frequency, like all matter on the earth, it is possible that their is a way that our frequencies could connect. Trees are phenomenal! As I continue my research at fabricademy I want to connect even deeper to the heartbeat of life.
