5 Ws¶
who¶
A design student exploring the intersection of sustainable materials, jewlery and personal identity, but also anyone who is curious about biomaterials, conscious design, or looking to develop a similar project. This journal serves as both a personal record and a source of inspiration, functioning as a guide for those who want to start their own experimentation with bio-based materials.
what¶
A field journal documenting the process of experimenting with biomaterials to create a jewelry collection, compiled into an editorial-style printed book. It includes recipes, experiments, observations, personal reflections, and the creative and conceptual development behind the final pieces.
when¶
From January 8th - March 23rd
where¶
Mexico, Puebla. The project is developed within my academic context (Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla) combining laboratories and workshops.
why¶
This project emerges from a personal need for introspection and positioning. While I have always been drawn to objects and accessories, I now question the culture of irresponsible consumption that shaped my relationship with them. Rather than rejecting these objects, I choose to confront this contradiction by exploring alternative ways of making that are more conscious, respectful of the earth, and grounded in clear material life cycles. Jewelry becomes a small act of personal resistance against immediacy and an early declaration of the values I wish to uphold as a designer.
References¶
Alicia Valdes¶
Alicia Valdes is a designer specialized in material and waste research. Her work inspired me to direct my project in this direction. I was particularly drawn to a post where she is transparent about her creative and production process.

The Bioplastic cookbook¶
The Bioplastic Cookbook by Margaret Dunne is a essential resource for anyone looking to venture into the world of biomaterials, it is clear, informative, and served as a great guide for my project.

KLEIS II¶
I drew inspiration from Alessia Pasquni´s trendbook, it gives an idea of how a physical book about biomaterials could look and how it could be presented. I liked that it was very interactive as well.
