PreFinal 01; Planning and Pitch¶
3D Printed Feathers¶
After the MIDTERMS, i decided to work with 3D printed feathers and try different materials to create new ways to experiment with feathers, trying to be as sustainable as possible using an improved biomaterials.
- Biomaterial based on Cellulose
- Recicled Flexible TPU
- Biocompostable and flexible based on Cornstarch
- Based on recicled Tires
- Magnetic PLA
- Edible material based on Sugar
Here you can find some sketches that i made for the MidTerm presentation, this ones represent the main idea of the experiences that i want to "improve" with feathers.
All in the way to create new experiences based on FEATHERS like edible candy feathers, conductive feathers that can give life to a garment, magnetic ones that can help in assembly and movement process, etc.

WHAT
The main idea is to generate a "non animal feather" based on biomaterials or biocomposites that don't involve a situation of violence and mistreatment for birds. Through the history, animal feathers have been a precious ornament to communicate status, luxury, elegance, beauty and femininity. That's why they are deeply attached with the haute couture business, and now with the fast fashion. But did you ask yourself, where this beautiful feathers came from? Why they have this amazing colors? How many birds you leave featherless cause of that suit? Or how artificial feathers are made?
WHY
Cause I want to be able to use feathers, and look that extravagant, but without causing any pain.
