Hello Fab World,

About me

Hi, I'm Leki Tshering. I was born in 1998 and grew up in Bhutan. Right now I teach Technology at The Royal Academy. For as long as I can remember, I've loved building things and messing around with tech projects.

I also grew up watching my mom weave, so textiles have been part of my life since I was a kid. Having both technology and textiles around me made me wonder what would happen if I brought the two together. That's what led me to Fabricademy. I want to learn more about textiles and find ways to combine them with technology.

My background

I finished my Bachelor's degree in Information Technology in 2023. Over the years I've worked on a number of software projects, and building things has always been the part I enjoy most.

Today I teach in the Aesthetics and Technology domain at The Royal Academy. My students explore textiles, painting, sculpture, and technology, and we look for ways to connect them. Working in this space has made me even more curious about textiles and digital fabrication. I hope what I learn at Fabricademy will bring new ideas to my students and my community.

Previous work

FabLab CST

My first time teaching others was in 2022, when I became a student instructor at the CST FabLab. I showed my students how to use the different machines there. It was also where I got to use an embroidery machine for the first time.

I also set up a VR studio at the college so students could try virtual reality for themselves.
