11. Implications and applications

This week I worked on defining my final project idea. I decided to start a consulting agency for help brands and emergency designers to get into sustainable process and circular fashion. I chose the name Animai, that is a word in the ancestral language shipibo from Peru and means "large natural land".

Our manifesto

  1. Local: Work locally, visibilize our nearest suppliers.
  2. Sustainable: Social, responsable, cultural, ecological and circular economy.
  3. Ancestral: Slow down, look to our ancestors and take them as an example.
  4. Research and development: Research and develop new process and materials inspiring in Peru and other places.

Focus in the following points:

  • Market Research
  • Partners: Sustainable Suppliers (Materials)
  • Create a methodology to diagnose current status and how to become more sustainable. (For companies and designers about their)
  • Building a web of consulting agency: Animai Sustainable Studio

  • Services:

  • Sustainable materials consulting (Own sample book: Materials, natural dye, techniques, etc.)
  • Fashion Circular Process (To improve your actual process)
  • Prototyped
  • Contact and ethical work with artisans. (communities in Peru)
  • First client: Evea Eco-Fashion Shoes

First Client

For make all this goals, I worked with Evea Eco-Fashion Shoes. There request was this: 1. Make prototypes for there new line of shoes and accesories bags. 2. Testing with their main materials: slides of pure latex and latex with cotton.

Testing with latex (Shiringa from Amazonas)

For this testing I chose to use Kerf Patterns, this design usually gives a lot of flexibility to the material. After trying with some patterns i realized that the thing go well when the laser machine is cutting but when it is engraved, passing many times in the same place can make smalls fire flames. So we have to be careful with the latex because is a flammable material, so we must be sure that the lines of the design are not too close to each other and the power in our parameters is not so strong.
