1. State of the art, project management and documentation

References & Inspiration

Honestly speaking, I was very confused about documenting this week. It also took me some time before I got comfortable with gitlab, but it became more clear in the process.

It helped me a lot to research other students' pages. The first page I saw, was Sara Alvarez's. Her way of documenting is creative and inspiring. You can check it here

First week's tutorials were mainly focused on how to use gitlab, Julian did a great job explaining. We were also given suggestions on different tools to use while documenting. I will leave here the tools that I used a lot.

Tools

 [GIMP](https://www.gimp.org/)
 [Canva](https://www.canva.com/)
 [Photoshop](/https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop.html)

GIMP is an open source image editor. I am using it to resize the pictures, before ulpoading them to the page.

Canva is the tool I use to create collages.

Photoshop I oly use if I want to cut something out of a picture.

Documentation workflow

After the tutorials, I started to gather pictures I was going to upload.

Step 1

The first step was to resize the pictures. I use GIMP for this purpose.

Step 2

At the beginning, I was having trouble with uploading photos. So I decided to put here the steps. Maybe it will be helpful for someone who is having a hard time with it.

Then tap on "Create commit..." button and voilĂ !

Projects research

At this moment I still do not know what the idea of my final project is going to be. But I feel more drawn to Biomaterials, especially mycellium and to the topic of electronics. So I decided to browse projects of some of the previous Fabricademy students.

I am a big fan of Clara Davis' works. I stalked her on instagram, and on her website and just got a huge amount of inspiration.

Ying Gao is not a Fabricademy student, but is a great inspiration, when it comes to the integration of electronics into garments, in a delicate way. Click here for more projects.

Conclusion

I am writing this later, because I did not do this on time, and if there is something I can suggest to some of the future students, would be to upload something to the page, every single day. It is very important to create the habit of documenting, because otherwise it will be hard to keep up with this task.
