HELLO! I am Lucrecia, a multistasker and -most of the time chaotic- uruguayan fashion designer, teacher, freelance illustrator. (Ohhh... and I am also a mother of two!!)

About me

I live in Montevideo, the city where I was born 37 years ago. I love my birthday, bread, cheese, and dancing. I have a degree on Fashion Design and a Specialization on Innovation Management.I say that I am a multitasker because in fact, I do not have a clear profile: I have tried a little bit of everything as you will see in *my previous work

For the last 8 years I have been working as a teacher in the Escuela Universitaria Centro de Diseño from the Universidad de la República, and also there, as an Academic Assistant. The Universidad de la Republica -main and public university in our country- has an essential role on increasing, spreading and defending culture; propelling and protecting scientific research; contributing to the solution of society issues; defending moral values and standing up for justice, freedom and social welfare of Uruguayan people. Hence, the projects and values that I promote in my everyday work supports these aims.

Previous work

Bellow you will find some of the paths I have followed since I graduated. As we say in spanish (and in Uruguay) "un poco de todo, como en botica"

Multitask 1: Me as a fashion designer

Lúmina is a clothing design contest in Uruguay, where five finalists showcase a collection made for the uruguayan women. These picutres are part of the "Mujer Orquesta" collection, which was selected - by jury and by the public- as the winner in the 2010 edition.

Multitask 2: Me as an entrepreneur

Laurel was an entrepreneurship developped by Lucía Benitez and me, between 2010 and 2017. It was supported by the Agency of Research and Innovation in Uruguay. It was focused on fashion accesories, made with Uruguayan materials and new technologies.

Multitask 3: My experience in art

Redefinition of the prison space through free artistic interventions.

Thus arises "Deprived of Liberty". There, lies an invitation to reflect on how clothing - which is the border between the self and the rest, the "closest" to oneself - can sometimes occupy the same physical space as the total vital space of an individual. Excess vs austerity.

Multitask 4: Me as an illustrator

I express myself a lot through drawing. Here there is just a sneak pic.

  1. Laurelia was an illustration project developed with the aim of spreading and promoting local fashion consumption.

  2. Osoconalas is my personal (and very catartic) space which ended up in a comic book on 2015.

Multitask 5: Me in COVID.19

A group of multidisciplinary people in la Universidad de la República (includding myself) developed some projects in the frame of COVID-19 Pandemic. Here there are some textile-related.

Thank you for reading this far!
