Prototype 1¶
Started by Option 1 in the 3d sketches. I designed a simple protoype connection point that hangs on the shoulders. I laser printed it on 5 mm Acrylic.
Now to fix this prototype on the body making sure it is secure especailly with the force of the pressed hard ribbons I am looking into some inspirations to finalise the look.
For the material. I went into hardware stores and sewing supplies shops. I found polyester boning material that wouldnt hold the shape of a dome within the needed dimention. I also tried the PLA fillament which also had the same effect with the polyester boning. I also tried with metal ones. However, it was hard to use and if not fixed properely it can take someone's eyes. At last I found something that is maluable yet holds the shape in also light. Using cable covers gave me the result I needed.
Prototype 2¶
Designed a connection point for both options 2 and 3. Still need to be laser cut and tried.
Material experiment¶
Clay¶
Silicone Eco flex 22 g of each part , total 44 g
Red Clay Mixed with water 75 g
Glycerol 8 g
Ethanol 10 g
* Mix the silicone first
* Then add the glycerol and mix
* Add the red clay with ethanol
* mix well
* Spread on mold
After 4 days here is the result
The result creates a cracking effect . Hold itself yet can be broken easily .
Next step to try 4 tests 1. same but mix with a mixer 2. more silicone 3. no glycerol 4.additives for white colour
