Final Project

Metamorphocin

Metamorphocin investigates how to cohabitate and create with other organisms in slow and gentle ways, specifically the Bombyx mori silkworm. It explores alternative methods to make products from sericulture while allowing for the metamorphosis of the silk moth. The broken cocoon, considered a damaged and less valuable material, is transformed into garments and accessories through a mix of modern and traditional processes. The underlying goal is to prepare for a farm-to-fashion model studio to create locally and meaningfully with silkworms, sheep and natural dye plants.
